1st Generation: William Campbell: William Campbell was one of Mr. Danford’s earliest employees, beginning his career at just 14 years old after school. The business started as a small shop that bought and sold textiles by the pound, known as a jobber, and eventually transformed into a small fabricating facility under Mr. Danford’s guidance. Following Mr. Danford's passing, his sister, Mrs. Margaret Campbell Danford, took over the business, and William continued to support her throughout his young career, with the exception of his service in World War II. Ultimately, despite his wife Mary’s concerns, William left his secure 25-year position at the T Eaton Co. to join the family business full-time, leading it to become a prominent cut and sew facility.

Under William's leadership, the business grew steadily, allowing us the honor of manufacturing for esteemed corporations such as Seagram’s (Crown Royal Liquor Bag), Chanel (Powder Mitts), Avon (Cosmetic Packaging), and the Exxon Corporation (Esso Tiger Tails), among others.

On January 24, 2022, we mourned the loss of our Founder and Inspiration, who passed away at the age of 102. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten.

2nd Generation: Richard W. J. Campbell: COB CASTELLO* Group (William’s son) began working with his mother at just 12 years old. Once old enough, he joined the Montreal factory, which at its peak employed around 80 workers and 50 subcontractors. Although the hospitality was the smallest part of the business at the time, Richard focused on it, believing he could prove to his father that he could elevate the business further. He expanded the table linen division and introduced key clients like Air Canada, Hilton Hotels, Westin Resorts, and Four Seasons Hotels which marked the first time the company employed outside sales personnel and expanded sales from local to national and international markets.

To ensure the highest quality products, the company evaluated offerings worldwide, ultimately discovering exquisite linens from a small Italian factory that also began in 1935. This serendipitous connection led to the creation of the CASTELLO* Group, comprising companies that manufacture premium bed, bath, and table linens, all managed by the Campbell family. The product line has grown to include a vast array of linen items, with all aspects of production, logistics, distribution, sales, and marketing handled internally.

3rd Generation: R. Taylor Campbell: CEO of CASTELLO* Group (Richard's Son) Taylor joined the company at the start of the new millennium, initially serving as Vice President, then COO, and now as CEO. He has continued his father's legacy by focusing exclusively on the high-end luxury market, securing prestigious clients such as Holland America’s Seaborne Cruise Line, MGM Resorts International, Aman Resorts, Fairmont Hotels, Four Seasons Hotels, and Ritz Carlton Hotels.

The sales team has expanded globally, with Account Managers in the USA, Canada, Europe, the Middle East, Asia, and Russia. Additionally, warehouse and distribution centers have grown with facilities on both the East and West coasts of the United States, Canada, Europe, and Asia.

To meet the demand from our hospitality customers for a connection to a high-end home textile line, CASTELLO Home was launched with a strong background in manufacturing, private label products, the transition into the retail home textile market was seamless. The CASTELLO Group now operates several divisions: CASTELLO 1935 for manufacturing, CASTELLO Design for private label, CASTELLO Hotel for wholesale linen products, and CASTELLO Home for eCommerce retail offerings in Bed, Bath, Table, and Accessories, all aimed at the ultra-luxury linen market.

4th Generation: Future Co-CEOs Anthony & Annabelle Campbell (Taylor's children) are set to join the CASTELLO* Team in the future. Anthony was born on September 27, 2014, Annabelle on January 28, 2017, and while have some time before stepping into their roles, the foundation laid by Richard ensures that the CASTELLO* Brand will be carried on by his grandchildren for generations to come. This commitment drives the Campbell Family to continually pursue new goals and secure the company’s future. The next generation is poised to elevate the Brand with technology and product advancements that we have yet to envision.

As we approach 2035, and our 100th year in the industry, we remain optimistic about a prosperous future, drawing from our past 90 years.
